We are proud of the local impact the Sacramento Council makes to the men and women of our local Sea Service Units and Sea Service related youth Programs. Our members and supporters contribute their time and treasure to identified needs and to the moral and well-being of those who serve past, present, and future.

United States Coast Guard Air Station Sacramento Wows Area Northern California Naval Sea Cadet Divisions

Cadets and staff from the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps Golden Bear Division (Chico, CA) and Ticonderoga Division (Sacramento, CA) recently joined service members from United States Coast Guard Air Station Sacramento for an orientation flight in one of the command’s six HC-27J Spartan Medium Range Surveillance aircraft. Navy League Sacramento Council initiated the effort by renewing connections between the Air Station and Sea Cadet Divisions that had slowed over the last two years. “It was good to get back to the business of the Navy League by making connections and bringing together these incredible organizations,” said Sacramento Council Vice President of Military Affairs and former Air Station Commanding Officer Stephen Delikat.

It has been a busy spring and summer in support of sea service active duty and reserve units as well as sea service relate youth organizations in the Sacramento area.

Council members and friends of the Council celebrated at their annual summer get together at John and Patricia Meyers house.

*Not quite on the scale of a Steel Beach Picnic but at least the beverages were cold.

June 2022 - Navy League Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Grant for the Aerospace Museum of California (AMC) Summer Youth Camp.

The Council applied for and received a $1,000 grant from the Navy League STEM Foundation for the AMC’s summer camp program. The Board authorized a $250 match for a total $1,250 contribution from the Sacramento Council. The AMC is an incredible local resource that informs and inspires about the past and future of aerospace endeavors. The Council is proud of its partnership with this outstanding local resource.

Thursday, May 12, - Coast Guard Air Station Petty Officer of the Quarter for the first quarter 2022.

The Sacramento Council acknowledged the outstanding accomplishments of Aviation Maintenance Technician First Class Misty Paris during a squadron quarters on the hangar bay. The Council is proud of its adoption of the Coast Guard Air Station and is honored to recognize our local Guardians. The award comes with a token cash award made possible through Sacramento Council member donations.

Saturday, May 14, 11 am, United States Naval Sea Cadet Golden Bear Division Annual Awards Presentation, Chico Ca

The Sacramento Council awarded the Theodore Roosevelt Youth Medal to the outstanding Sea Cadet (age 13 to 18) and the Navy League Youth Award (age 10 to 13) to the Outstanding Navy League Cadet from the Division.

Friday, May 13, Luther Burbank High School Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps Annual Awards, Sacramento

The Sacramento Council awarded the Navy League’s Theodore Roosevelt Youth Medal to the Unit’s Outstanding Cadet. The Council also awarded the Admiral Benjamin Hacker and Barbara Armstrong Memorial Scholarships to deserving Cadets.

Saturday, May 7, California State University Maritime Academy Outstanding Cadet, Strategic Sealift Officer (SSO) Program, Vallejo

The Sacramento Council presented a Navy officer’s sword to an outstanding graduating Strategic Sea Lift Officer Cadet during the school’s graduation ceremony.

Friday April 22 and Saturday April 23, 2022, Navy League Pacific Central Region Spring Region Members Meeting hosted by Sacramento Council, Aerospace Museum of California (AMC).

Guest speakers included CDR Ortenzio, Executive Officer, Coast Guard Air Station Sacramento, and the Navy League National President Dave Reilly. The Sacramento Council presented a check for $500, approved by the board in April, to support the AMC summer Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Camps.

Wednesday, April 20 - John F. Kennedy High School Marine Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps Annual Awards, Sacramento

The Sacramento Council awarded the Navy League’s Theodore Roosevelt Youth Medal to the Unit’s Outstanding Cadet. The Council also awarded the Admiral Benjamin Hacker and Barbara Armstrong Memorial Scholarships to deserving Cadets

March 15, 2022 - Coast Guard Air Station Sacramento Junior Officer of the Year and Petty Officer of the Quarter, 4th Quarter

The Sacramento Council acknowledged the outstanding accomplishments of Lieutenant Sergio Fletes as the Air Station’s Junior Officer of the Year for 2021 and Damage Controlman Petty Officer Second Class Dennis Laursen as the top enlisted person of the quarter for the 4th quarter Calendar Year 2021. The Council is proud of its adoption of the Coast Guard Air Station and is honored to recognize our local Guardians. Both awards come with token cash awards made possible through member donations.

March 5, 2022 - United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps Ticonderoga Division Annual Awards, Sacramento

Council members were on hand to present the Theodore Roosevelt Youth Medal to a young Cadet that is already honing their leadership skills through this outstanding youth program.
